Walking Pole Parts and How to Set Your Walking Poles: Video Transcript

Setting your walking poles at the correct height is an important key to being comfortable, ensuring against possible injury and in turn being truly relaxed and enjoying your walking poles.

If your walking poles are set too high, you値l have a harder time controlling them. You値l be more apt to hit into the ground or have them slip out from underneath you. As well, you値l find you値l more quickly wear out your walking pole tips.

If your walking poles are set too low, you値l tend to lean too far forward, putting unnecessary stretch on your lower back. You want your walking poles to be perpendicular to the ground with your forearm sitting parallel or just a hair above.

Your Keenfit Walking Poles are two-piece telescopic. They are easy to adjust for both comfort and convenience. To extend your walking poles, you must first loosen them off. To do so, hold on to the upper section while turning the lower section to the left towards you. Then slide the two sections apart. After determining your correct height, you need to lock them into position. To do this, turn the lower section to the right, away from you. The easiest way to remember is 喪ighty, tighty lefty, loosy.

After you set the height of your walking poles, it痴 important to set the direction of your road foot. Turn the walking pole foot down, so that it is in the same direction as your strap. The easiest way to remember is 奏oe down, strap down.

Next, you must adjust your walking pole straps. There is a right and left noted on each strap. First, loosen up the Velcro on the strap allowing enough room for your hand to slide through. Take a grip of the walking pole handle while fastening the Velcro across the back of your hand not your wrist. You pull the cord out of the end of the walking pole handle to set the height of the walking pole strap. You don稚 want your hand to be too high or too low against the cork. Use the wedge-shaped plug to set the desired height. Play around with it until your grip feels just right. Generally, it works best if your hand is mid-cork with the palm pad sitting comfortably in the heal of your palm. Remember to relax your hand and use the strap.
